Your Child Deserves a Dentist They Look Forward to Seeing
We know the dentist can feel like a big, scary deal for little ones. That’s why everything about our practice, from the way we talk to the way our office looks, to the way we pace each visit, is designed to help your child leave feeling proud, and you leave feeling at ease.

What your child experiences at their first few dental visits will shape how they feel about their oral health for the rest of their life. We take that seriously. When you bring your child to see our friendly team, our goal is to build trust with them, one visit at a time, so that the dentist becomes something they’re comfortable with, not something they dread.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit
After the eruption of their first tooth, or before their first birthday, we recommend that you bring your child in for their first dental checkup. Because their first visit to the dentist is so important for making a good lasting impression, we’ll sit down with you beforehand to get to know your child’s habits, what makes them light up, and what makes them nervous. That way, we can tailor their experience to what makes them most comfortable.
Before you come in, there are a few things you can do at home to help set their expectations. Speak about the visit in calm, positive terms (kids pick up on what you’re feeling), and if possible, leave other little ones at home so they’re the star of the moment.

The Role of a Pediatric Dentist
Phobias that start in childhood often continue into adulthood. Considering the critical role routine dental check-ups have in protecting your child’s oral and overall health, it is important to find a dentist who can make them feel comfortable. Dr. Petrich and Dr. Moody are both great as good at alleviating the anxiety of kids, and their steady professional hands will ensure that every trip is pleasant and pain-free.
We believe a dentist specializing in kids’ oral health must focus on four things: education, monitoring of growth, prevention, and intervention. Children are sponges for information, and if good dental habits can be presented in a fun, yet meaningful way, kids will internalize the information for the rest of their lives. We are committed to doing exactly that!
Dental Services Overview
Check-Ups & Cleanings
Whether for children or adults, prevention is the best cure, and the best way to achieve this is with twice-a-year check-ups to keep this goal on track. This helps your child achieve a healthy smile in the long term.
These appointments are almost always painless and will not cause discomfort for your child. Our hygienists are patient and gentle, taking their time to remove buildup from even the trickiest spots, so that the small issues never get the chance to become big ones.
Dental X-Rays
Sometimes the most important problems to identify are ones that can’t be seen with the naked eye – cavities hiding between teeth, shifts in the jaw, changes in development that haven’t shown up yet. With dental X-rays, we’re able to see all of these things, and more, early, when it’s far easier (and far less stressful) to address.
For parents worried about radiation exposure, here’s what you should know: the dose used in dental X-rays is very small. The process itself is approved by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and we use lead aprons every single time. Your child’s safety is our first priority, full stop.
Fluoride Treatment
One of the most effective things we can do to protect your child’s teeth is also one of the simplest. Fluoride treatment helps strengthen the enamel of your child’s teeth to repair minor damage naturally, which helps prevent problems down the road.
For younger children under two, fluoride-free toothpaste is the right call; for older kids, a pea-sized amount of regular toothpaste does the job. Some children benefit from additional supplements, but that’s a decision we’ll always make together, based on what we find.
If Your Child Has a Dental Emergency
Let’s face it, kids move fast. Unfortunately, they don’t always move carefully, making dental injuries far more common than most parents realise. If your child is having a dental emergency, here’s what to do:
Rinse the area gently with warm water, apply a cold compress to manage swelling, and give an age-appropriate pain reliever if needed. Then call us immediately — we’ll guide you through exactly what comes next.
For anything more serious, head straight to the emergency room, keeping your child as still and calm as possible. We’re here when you need us. You won’t be navigating this alone.
